Abstract

This study determines the relationship between policy implementation and employee retention on firm survival, with reference to Tertiary Institutions in Southwest, Nigeria. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study.

The population of the study comprised both academic and non-academic staff of the selected Tertiary Institutions in Southwest, Nigeria. The study employed a sample size of 510 through the Yamane sampling model. Primary data used for the study were gathered by administering a well-structured questionnaire.

Data gathered were analyzed using hierarchical multiple regression analysis. The study found that policy implementation and employee retention significantly affect firm survival. Thus, it concluded that policy implementation and employee retention positively affect the firm survival of Tertiary Institutions in Southwest, Nigeria.

The study recommended that affected staff should be carried along on any policy change or new policies before implementation to enhance retention and survival.
