Abstract
This study examined decision making and employee participation in Public Enterprises Benin City Edo State. The population of the study was drawn from staff and managers of Edo state water board Benin City. The sample of the study was given as 145. Out of the 145 questionnaires administered to the participant only 120 were returned while 25 were not returned.
The study was analyzed using of tables and percentage while the three hypotheses were tested with the aid of ANOVA. The result from the research shows that decision making and employee participation has positive effect in public enterprises. This study recommends the following: Organizations are encouraged to design their firm in such a way that it will boot free flow of decision making in public enterprises and gives room for full commitments of their employee to participate and create efficiency on organizational decision-making process.
Again, Firms are advised to put more efforts that will encourage their employees to come up with better innovative ways of achieving and promoting organizational performance. And Firms are commended to improve the level of workers commitments on decision making between employees and employer, finally, every firm is advised to create a straightforward understanding and notion of the concept of participative decision making to avoid conflicts of interest among the employees and the employer.
