Abstract

Entrepreneurship education was introduced in Nigerian tertiary institutions to address youth unemployment and drive
self-reliance. Several gaps remain in the literature despite the progress made in understanding the effect of
entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial intentions. Most studies tend to isolate and measure the effect of
individual proxies of entrepreneurship education without exploring their combined effects. While broad relationships
between entrepreneurship education and intentions have been explored, there is limited research examining the
interaction of specific variables such as the effectiveness of curriculum implementation and teaching methods which
remains unclear. This study examined the influence of entrepreneurship curriculum implementation and teaching
methods on the entrepreneurial intentions of students in selected tertiary institutions in Nasarawa State. Using a survey
design, 511 final-year students were sampled across 4 tertiary institutions. Data were analyzed using PLS-SEM with the
aid of SmartPLS 3.0 software. Findings revealed that curriculum implementation was positive but insignificant in
predicting entrepreneurial intentions while teaching methods was positive and significantly predicted entrepreneurial
intentions. The conclusion therefore is that, curriculum implementation is positive but not significant enough to increase
entrepreneurial intentions of students, while teaching Method employed by the facilitators enhances entrepreneurial
intentions of students in tertiary institutions in Nasarawa state, Nigeria.
